Scagliola was born to imitate marble and to replace other precious materials such as ivory, porcelain, and Pietre Dure fulfilling the aspirations of the Baroque movement: the exuberance, opulence, and desire to surprise through the charm of its illusionistic effects until acquired an independent and rich status. But, in the half of the nineteenth century, this artistic technique fell into oblivion and it’s thanks to the stubbornness, the passion, and the love for art and the handmade and the craftsmanship of Bianco Bianchi that scagliola began to revive nowadays. Since 1959 he was able to spread this knowledge and this renewed international cultural heritage with courage and confidence. We estimate that his collection is the biggest one and the most completed all around the world.
